JUST IN: Gambo takes over as Chief of Naval Staff

Rear Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo has taken over Command as the 21st indigenous Chief of Naval Staff.
Gambo was born on 22 April 1966 and hails from Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State.

He enlisted into the Nigerian Navy in 1984 as a member of the Regular Course 36 and was commissioned Sub-Lieutenant in 1988.

Outgoing CNS, Vice Admiral Ibot Ekwe-Ibas, charged Gambo to sustain pressure on oil thieves and secure the nation's maritime sector.
