Kano: DSS Operatives Barricade Sheikh Abduljabar Nasiru Kabara's Mosque, House

Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje led government of Kano State has kept in check every movement, activity at the residence and mosque of Sheik Abduljabar Nasiru Kabara.

Reports reaching us at the moment confirmed that heavily armed officials of the Department of State Security, DSS, has been deployed to the Sheikh's mosque and house to ensure there was no violation of the directive earlier issued.

The State government had earlier banned Kabara from leading prayers or preaching in the state over his messages which are considered to be inciting. A source who is well in the know about the situation revealed that the DSS men stormed the Sheikh apartment to bar his followers from coming on to protest or create a scene possible of causing violence.

Explaining why the Kano government took the decision, the State Commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba, said the decision was necessary to avoid causing chaos in the state. Garba revealed further that all seminaries run by the clergyman would be shut down pending investigation by security agencies.

He disclosed that the council has directed all broadcast stations and social media platforms to abstain from airing such enflaming preachings, sermons, propagation and any other religious discussions in the interest of peace and tranquillity in the State. While all security agencies have also been directed to ensure full compliance and take decisive action against any person or group found flouting the order.

In another news, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has condemned the Department of State Services (DSS) for raising an alarm over the threat by some people to cause ethnoreligious violence in some parts of the country.
