Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal has signed a new six-year contract that will tie him to the club until June 30, 2031. The 17-year-old has 34 goal involvements for the Spanish champions this season, in which they secured a domestic treble of La Liga, Copa del Rey and Supercopa de Espana. Yamal was also a key part of the Spain side that won Euro 2024 under Luis de la Fuente last summer.

Lamine Yamal has signed a new six-year contract with Barcelona after helping the club to the 2024/25 La Liga title.

The 17-year-old, who scored 18 goals and registered 16 assists in all competitions this season, has been tied down until 2031.

An official statement from Barcelona read: "FC Barcelona and Lamine Yamal have reached an agreement for the renewal of his contract which will now tie him to the club until 30 June 2031.

"The player signed his new contract on Tuesday at the club's offices in the presence of FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta, first vice president Rafa Yusta, and the club's sporting director Anderson Luis de Souza 'Deco', amongst others.

"A contract extension for Lamine Yamal is another demonstration of the solidity of the current Barca project. The Barca forward made his debut for the first team on 29 April 2023, at the age of just 15 and since then, the lad from Mataro near Barcelona has exploded on to the stage that is world football with performances that are already part of FC Barcelona history."

Yamal turns 18 in July but has already made more than 100 appearances for Barcelona since his emergence last season.

The teenager starred for Spain at Euro 2024 and has continued to impress in Hansi Flick's free-flowing Barca side.

Yamal has reportedly earned a significant pay rise in his new contract, which is also said to include a bonus for winning the Ballon d'Or - as well as a reported Ôé¼1 billion release clause.

On comparisons with Lionel Messi, "I don't compare myself to him, because I don't compare myself to anyone, and much less with Messi," he said.

"We are thinking about improving ourselves, every day, and on being better on the next day.

"So I don't think the comparison makes sense, with Messi even less, I'm going to enjoy myself, and be myself.
