Lawyer, Pastor Arraigned For Conspiracy, Threat To Kill

A lawyer, Dominic Okon and two others have been granted bail by a Magistrate Court sitting in Uyo over a two-count charge of conspiracy and written threat to kill one Ime Unaowo Nta and his children.

The two other accused are the Senior Pastor of All Christian Gospel Centre, Pastor Gabriel Ekong and the church secretary, Mr Michael Edet, all of whom, have pleaded not guilty to all the charges leveled against them.

In his ruling, the presiding magistrate, Ubong Udofia,granted the three defendants bail in the sum of N500,000 each for self recognizance. Udofia said they shall swear to affidavit and deposit two recent passportsized photographs of themselves.

The arraignment of the accused followed a petition to the Nigeria Police by Ime Unaowo Nta. The prosecuting officer, Inspector Comfort Udoh, had told the court that the actions of the defendants were punishable under Section 556 (1) (f) and section 330 of the Criminal Code.

The case has been adjourned to Wednesday, October 21, 2020 for hearing.
