Mayor Don Lulu Igbokwe Announces Bursary for Abia Students, Unveils Tree Planting Project

Abia philanthropist Mayor Don Lulu Igbokwe strengthens his commitment to youth empowerment and environmental sustainability.

Abia-born businessman, philanthropist, and politician, Mayor Don Lulu Igbokwe, has announced a landmark initiative to support students in Abia State. Through his charitable organization, the Don Lulu Foundation, bursary payments will commence for Abia students starting in 2025.

The announcement came during a New Year courtesy visit by the leadership of the Abia Student Community under the auspices of the Joint Campus Committee (JCC) to Mayor Igbokwe's Umuawa-Alaocha country home.

Mayor Igbokwe, also a United Nations Mayor of Peace, expressed his unwavering dedication to youth development. He revealed that the bursary scheme is part of the Don Lulu Foundation's mission to alleviate the financial burden on students and promote academic excellence.

Additionally, he disclosed plans for a state-wide tree planting initiative. This project, a collaboration between the Don Lulu Foundation and his Green Peace organization, aims to address environmental concerns and promote sustainable practices across Abia State.

"I remain committed to supporting the Abia Student Community and creating avenues for their growth and well-being," he assured during his interaction with the students.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, JCC Chairman Prince Jacob expressed gratitude to Mayor Igbokwe for his unwavering support of the student community. He commended the Mayor's recent sponsorship of the Abia Student Games and acknowledged his efforts to inspire and empower the youth.

"Your contributions have significantly impacted the lives of Abia students, and we assure you of our unwavering support," Prince Jacob said.

The delegation also included prominent student leaders such as Comrade Mbakwe Sunday, Abia Zonal Representative of NANS Zone; Comrade Fortune Chigozie; and Ambassador Micheal Ezeh, National President of the Methodist Youth Fellowship.

In a heartfelt gesture, the students presented a sizeable goat to Mayor Igbokwe as a symbol of their appreciation for his continuous support.

The visit marked another chapter in Mayor Igbokwe's legacy of philanthropy and community engagement, solidifying his role as a beacon of hope and progress in Abia State.
