Messi among Barcelona players to undergo tests for Coronavirus

Barcelona superstar, Lionel Messi, and other Barcelona stars are set to undergo tests for Coronavirus on Wednesday (today) as they prepare to return to training ahead of Spain's LaLiga restart in June.

This is coming after Spain's ministry of health gave clubs permission to return to their training grounds after lockdown rules were relaxed.

After getting tested, players who do not have coronavirus or symptoms of the disease will train individually.

Barcelona have already announced that they are planning to welcome their players back to the Joan Gamper sports city on Wednesday ahead of LaLiga return in June behind closed doors.

"The football first team will be back at the Ciutat Esportiva on Wednesday for the relevant medical tests ahead of starting training individually in the coming days," a club statement read.

"LaLiga has given the go-ahead for the tests to be carried out after the club facilities are inspected on Tuesday. On Wednesday the medicals will be carried out to guarantee the players' health."

"This crisis has had a profound impact on all of us," said Javier Tebas, the president of LaLiga.

Spain's president Pedro Sanchez has also welcomed football's return despite 25,000 deaths and over 250, 000 cases from Coronavirus
