My Govt Will Recall Illegally Sacked Workers, Revive Enyimba Football Club - Alex Otti

There is bright hope for civil servants who were unduly relieved of their duties from the Abia State Civil Service, as Dr Alex Otti, the Labour Party governorship candidate in the state, has promised to recall all of them if he is elected as governor of the state come March 11, 2023.

Otti gave this assurance on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 while addressing his teaming supporters at Aba recreation club.

Otti assured that his administration would also ensure that salaries and pensions are duly paid to civil servants and pensioners and will also revive the Enyimba football club to regain it's pride of place.

"This is the government that will take you out of bondage".

"We will bring back all sacked non-indigenes, owed pensioners would be paid" Otti assured.

He called on all Abians to support his ambition; vote for him on the election day and stay put to make sure that their votes are counted before they vacate their polling units.

Otti assured the electorates that their votes will count with the advent of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS).

Recall that the administration of Senator Theodore Ahamefula Orji, had in 2011, sacked non-indigenes from the Abia state Civil Service citing pressure of implementing the minimum wage. The sack had come after some states sacked non-indigenes from their civil service which also affected some Abians.

On the other hand, in 2020, governor Okezie Ikpeazu's administration sacked some local government workers who were recruited in 2019.

He also sacked 5,666 public secondary school teachers employed between 2018 and 2020 across the state under the Secondary Education Management Board (SEMB). The affected persons were said to have been employed without waiver.

A total of 5,853 teachers were given jobs during the employment exercise spanning a period of three years. But after going through the list of the newly recruited teachers, a panel of investigation discovered that only 187 were employed through a waiver from Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.
