The suspended Accountant General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris, have been released from detention by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

All Facts Newspaper had reported that the anti-graft agency had taken Idris into custody on May 16, for allegedly diverting public funds to the tune of N80 billion.

He was thereafter relieved of his duty by the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, to enable him to face his probe.

The EFCC subsequently traced about 17 properties worth billions of naira to Idris.

Confirming his release to newsmen, spokesman to the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren said the suspect was released on Wednesday night in Abuja and has been reunited with his family after meeting his bail condition.

"I can tell you is that he has been released after meeting his bail conditions,ÔÇØ Uwujaren said.

He however did not mention what Idris's bail conditions were.
