NFF Elections: Akinwunmi Set To Declare For Presidency

Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), vice president, Barr. Seyi Akinwunmi is set to declare his intention.
In a report by LEADERSHIP, Akinwunmi will declare his intention to succeed Amaju Pinnick as NFF President in form of a cocktail on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.

The Lagos State FA's Chairman is considered by many stakeholders as suitable for the position as he would help to reposition and restore the country's football to its glory days.

While speaking in Abuja recently at the declaration of another aspirant and former NFF's General Secretary, Musa Amadu, Akinwunmi, insisted that football remains a family affair and that whoever emerges as the NFF helmsman must maintain the family tradition synonymous with football.

"We have an election in a few weeks' time, and it is not do or die,ÔÇØ Akinwunmi said. "It is not about the region you are representing but the interest of all. It is only left in Nigeria that binds us together and let us leave it that way.ÔÇØ

He had maintained that football is not a do or die affair and emphasized the need for Nigeria football to remain as a family irrespective of whoever becomes the next president as the reason some current exco members graced Amadu's declaration.
