NGO: 'Moving Train Grass-Root Youth Mobilization Movement' Unveiled In Abia, Reveals Vision |PHOTOS

A Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), 'Moving Train Grass-root Youth Mobilization Movement' has been unveiled in Abia State.

The official launching of the NGO was held on Friday, September 3, 2021, at the Umuahia North Local Government Area Headquarters.

In his speech at the launching, the State Chairman, Moving Train Grass-Root Youth Mobilization Movement, Hon. James Uche, said the movement is "a Non-governmental Organization with a compelling interest in Good Governance, Grass-root development, empowerment, and mobilizationÔÇØ.

Giving enlightenment on the essence and vision of the movement, Hon. Uche said;

This organization with membership across the 17 LGA's of the state can be described as a child of circumstance, given our focus which is on the realization of sustainable development of critical infrastructures in our dear State Abia.

We must state and categorically that even with the efforts of the present and past governments in the State, sustainable infrastructural development which was the dream of our Founding Fathers have not been fully realized.

We therefore, seek to further the actualization of the aims of which our Founding Fathers, the late Dr. M. I Okpara, the late chief Bob Ogbuagu, Dr. Anagha Ezikpe and so many others of blessed memory fought for which gave birth to the geographical space called Abia State with a focus on unity, fairness, peace, equity, and justice as the variables to make Abia a truly "God's own stateÔÇØ.

From inception even with the efforts of successive governments, noble statesmen, and organizations which have at different times introduced various developmental policies and frameworks to improve the life of the people of Abia state, unfortunately, we have discovered that Abian's and its populace haven't seen much improvements in their lives and businesses as expected through these policies and sadly many have continuously drifted into poverty with a slim hope of meaningful change in their lives especially the youth population.

This should be discouraged and the government alone cannot achieve it, therefore we solicit the involvement of all persons with different degrees of interest for the welfare of Abia State to oblige us your support.

We believe that the time has come for us to achieve that which our fathers dreamt of and with our collective inputs, we will achieve sustainable developments in all areas in God's own state.

We urge the government to focus a lot more on the role of the people at the community level to galvanize purposive grassroots mobilization for youth development and empowerment, participatory good leadership/governance, and fair haven's expectations in Abia state.

Therefore, purposive grassroots leadership is profound in mobilizing the people to take collective actions for community benefits (Co-operatives).

We look forward to capturing the people's specific realities to create a political climate for a feasible, integrative, and scalable development in our society.

We have very visionary, service-motivated youths with demonstrable political will and accountability who need to be encouraged and empowered to come into our political landscape to tackle the endemic political and economic challenges of our time. This can only be achieved when we work hand in hand with the Government at all levels.

With available statistics, this academic season must have released close to a million graduates from our tertiary institutions, competent youths in all works of life and discipline which we need to engage for greater Abia via the principles of self-independence and co-operatives to create their own jobs and help enhance the economy.

Our motive is to partner with the Government through co-operatives and inculcate the spirit of, self-reliance to promote socio-economic development that will emancipate our peopleÔÇØ the Chairman noted.

He called on Abians and members of various sectors to assist the organization;

- To foster friendship and promote the ideals of friendship and espirit-de-corp in Abia

- To assist in the mobilization of youths at the grassroots and ensure the empowerment and improved welfare of the youths through deliberate government policies and actions.

- To ensure the proper orientation of the youths at the grassroots for the purposes of checkmating every form of social vices by the youths in the state.

- To assist in drawing the youths closer to the government for the purposes of creating a good relationship between the state government and the youths

- To protect the interest of Abians in matters concerning social-economic, business, artistic works and general progress of the youths of the state, including forming co-operative ventures in the area of agriculture and health.

- To create a platform where the youths at the grassroots will unite to drive the development and progress of the state.

We call for collective collaboration with popular participation in decision making, research, project design, development executions, evaluation, and accountability in all the projects embarked upon in Abia State.

We beg you to help the youths of Abia state through the ideology of The Moving Train Grassroot Youth Mobilization Movement beget inherent ideas that are modulated to the specific needs of our communities.
