Nigeria 2-0 Congo: Super Eagles B end CHAN with consolation win
Nigeria's Super Eagles B team have ended their CHAN campaign with a consolation 2-0 win against Congo.

Nigeria's home based Super Eagles recorded a 2-0 win against Congo in their final group game of the African Nations Championship (CHAN).

The result in Zanzibar means that Nigeria's participation at the tournament co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda is now over.

The first half saw both teams unable to find the back of the net as they went to the break level.

The breakthrough came in the 56th minute when Nasarawa United star Anas Yusuf converted a well-placed ball from Sikiru Alimi of Remo Stars.

Congo's Charles Atipo received a straight red card as they played the rest of the game with 10 men.

Nigeria capitalized in stoppage time, with Alimi scoring the second goal in the 93rd minute, assisted by his Remo Stars teammate Sodiq Ismaila to seal the win.

Nigeria's campaign at the tournament began with a 1-0 loss to defending champions Senegal, followed by a 4-0 defeat to Sudan in their second group game.

Congo, on the other hand kicked off the tournament with a 1-1 draw against Sudan and followed it with another 1-1 draw against Senegal.

The result and 0-0 draw between Sudan and Senegal in the other Group D match confirmed Congo's elimination.
