NLC, TUC Disagrees Over Planned Nationwide Strike | READ DETAILS
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), have continued to disagree on the proposed indefinite nationwide strike slated to commence from Friday, over the removal of fuel subsidy, among others.

Recall that the TUC had boycotted the two days warning strike earlier embarked on by NLC alone. According to TUC Chairman, Festus Osifo, there was no basis for such action when the Federal Government and the organised Labour leaders were in talks.

The NLC while calling off the warning strike gave the Federal Government 21 days ultimatum to resolve all issues raised or have the economy shutdown indefinitely.

Speaking on the proposed indefinite strike, NLC Chairman, Joe Ajaero said TUC cannot back down from the action, however, NLC can go on strike alone.

"From what you can see from our last warning strike, you see that we can do it alone. We can work independently; we can work jointly when we agree" Ajaero said.

On his own part, the TUC chairman said;
"We looked at everything and felt it was not time to go on strike. We did not agree at any forum with the NLC to go on strike. We didn't renege because there was no prior agreement. We did not back out of the strike we didn't call.ÔÇØ
