Nurse arrested for parading as doctor in Kano

The Kano State Private Health Institutions Management Agency (PHIMA) has arrested an auxiliary nurse, Mrs Samira Abubakar, for allegedly parading herself as a qualified doctor at a private maternity home in Kano.

Mrs. Abubakar was said to be performing gynaecological procedures and other activities.

Dr. Usman Tijjani Aliyu, the Executive Secretary Private Health Institutions Management Agency, who led the joint operation with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of Mohammad Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital, told reporters that the suspect charged her victims N150,000 for a Caesarian Section.

"Our continued routine inspections and supervision to checkmate illegal activities of private health institutions in the state and other illegal practices have today led to the apprehension of a fake medical doctor.
