In what appears to be a major political realignment brewing in Abia State, the Old Bende Progressive Union has publicly urged the immediate past Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Ude Oko Chukwu, PhD, to officially join the political camp of the current Governor, Dr. Alex Otti.
Led by its Contact & Mobilization Chairman, Chief Jerry Kalu (popularly known as Oshimmiri), the delegation paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Ude Oko Chukwu in his country home, where they appealed to him to align with the current administration for the overall progress and stability of the state.

Chief Kalu, while speaking at the meeting, praised the former Deputy Governor for his political maturity and the boldness to openly support Governor Alex Otti in spite of party differences. He noted that such a gesture is a demonstration of statesmanship and true leadership, urging him to take the next step by officially joining the Governor's team.
According to Chief Kalu, "Abia State needs experienced hands like yours, and you have already shown commitment to the people's welfare by supporting good governance. We urge you to make it formal by joining forces with Governor Otti to continue transforming the state."

Adding his voice, Chief Etum Okereke, a respected political figure from Ohafia, emphasized that the visit was not a personal venture but a united call from leaders and stakeholders across the Old Bende Zone, cutting across Bende, Arochukwu, Ohafia, Isuikwuato, and Umunneochi.

"This is beyond politics. This is about legacy and development. The Old Bende Progressive Union has resolved to support Governor Alex Otti's second term bid, and we believe that someone like Ude Oko Chukwu will bring added value to this vision," Okereke said.

The meeting attracted leaders from across the Old Bende Zone, signifying a growing alliance between key political influencers in the region and the Otti administration.
