Old Bende Stakeholders Pass Vote of Confidence on Gov. Alex Otti, Promise Full Support for 2027 Re-election

Aba, Abia State - In a resounding show of unity and political clarity, the people of Old Bende region-comprising nine local government areas of Abia State-have issued a unanimous vote of confidence in the leadership of Governor Dr. Alex Otti. This was revealed in a communiqu├® issued at the end of a landmark meeting held on Monday, July 28, 2025, during a courtesy visit to Hon. Alex Mascot Ikwechegh, Member representing Aba North and South Federal Constituency.

Gathered under the Old Bende Progressive Union, the stakeholders, made up of over 50 monarchs, politicians, industrialists, and community leaders, cited Governor Otti's transformative policies and bold infrastructure agenda as the foundation for their overwhelming support.

The communiqu├® acknowledged and celebrated projects such as the Abia International Airport, Seaport, Stadium City, and Industrial Park, alongside the rehabilitation of critical road networks like Port Harcourt Road in Aba, Umuahia-Abriba Road, Ohanku, and Obohia roads. These efforts, they noted, have firmly repositioned Abia as a beacon of progressive governance in Nigeria.

Stakeholders also applauded the prompt payment of salaries and pensions, including the clearing of arrears left by previous administrations. The revival of General Hospital, Aba, and the Abia State University Teaching Hospital (ABSUTH) were described as life-saving interventions, reflecting Otti's dedication to healthcare.

The improved security architecture, they said, has created a favorable environment for business and attracted Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), further proving the economic competence of the Otti administration.

After a motion moved by HRM Eze Nwata Mbakwe, Chairman of the Old Bende Council of Traditional Rulers, and seconded by Chief Jerry Kalu (Osimiri), a respected entrepreneur and industrialist, the assembly unanimously passed a vote of confidence on Governor Alex Otti, vowing to mobilize support across the state for his re-election in 2027.

They also resolved to organize a grand reception in Aba in Governor Otti's honor on a date to be announced.
