OPINION: Abraham Amah, the Political Maradona of PDP, Has Finally Spoken-But Here's the Uncomfortable Truth

I had expected that at some point, Abraham Amah-the self-acclaimed philosophical orator of Abia PDP and a man whose political gymnastics have caused irreparable fractures in the party-would rear his head on the matter of His Excellency Rt. Hon. Ude Oko Chukwu. He finally has. And, as usual, he has opted for drama over facts, ego over unity, and mischief over truth.

Let me be clear: Abraham Amah is impersonating the position of State Chairman of the PDP in Abia. A recent judgment by the Abia State High Court sitting in Bende nullified the Ward and Local Government Area congresses of the Abia PDP held in 2024. The court also nullified the fraudulent councillorship and chairmanship primaries organized for the November 2024 council elections.

This judgment was the result of a suit filed by PDP chieftain Enyinnaya Ogbu (Suit No: HB/5/2024), which cited that the congresses and primaries violated earlier court orders. Therefore, anything Amah says in the name of the Abia PDP especially public statements is not only illegal, but amounts to criminal impersonation. He should be prosecuted accordingly.

If we are going to talk about betrayal and gratitude, then Amah must first look at the mess he created in Abia PDP in the short time he served as chairman. No one has done more harm to the party in recent memory than Abraham Amah himself.

It was under his toxic leadership that the PDP lost its coherence, its grassroots, and its relevance in Abia politics. This is the same Amah who spearheaded a pointless and vindictive battle against former Senate President Adolphus Wabara, an elder statesman whose influence remains crucial for PDP's future in the South East.

How can anyone of integrity remain in Abia PDP when Amah and his external collaborators have turned the party into a personal fiefdom of confusion and vendettas?

Let Amah also be reminded that while Ude Oko Chukwu served under the PDP, the party also benefitted immensely from his unwavering loyalty, his integrity, and his political goodwill. Under Ude Oko's leadership as Deputy Governor, the party enjoyed stability and credibility.

If Ude Oko today chooses to associate with progressive leaders like Governor Dr. Alex Otti, it is not betrayal, it is vision. A party that has become a shadow of itself, manipulated by selfish elements like Amah, cannot expect to retain the loyalty of credible leaders.

Unlike Amah whose only political strength lies in insults and word gymnastics-Rt. Hon. Ude Oko Chukwu is a statesman. He is respected across party lines. He has served in both executive and legislative arms of government. He has led with dignity, humility, and tact. He is not a man chasing relevance. He is a man already embodying leadership.

His public support for Governor Alex Otti is a testament to his maturity. He recognizes good governance, and unlike Amah, he is not blinded by petty opposition politics.

Let me end by dismantling Amah's most desperate move-his attempt to create a false rivalry between Ude Oko Chukwu, Chief David Ogba Onuoha Bourdex, Umeh Kalu SAN, and Nnamdi Iro Orji. These are respected men. They see through Amah's lies and political schemes. There is no division among them.

If Ude Oko decides to contest for Senate, it is his democratic right. Democracy is a contest of ideas and popular mandate. It is not a secret cult where Amah can anoint winners and losers from his bedroom.

Rather than fixate on a man like Ude Oko Chukwu who has elevated political discourse, Abraham Amah should look in the mirror and reflect on the damage he has done. Under his watch, PDP in Abia has become a toxic dump of confusion and decay.

Ude Oko has moved on. Abians have moved on. And no amount of bitterness from a failed political tactician will change that.
