Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu the Senator representing Abia North at the Senate and Ex- Governor of Abia state has expressed appreciation to all Nigerians for standing by him while his incaceration at the Nigerian Correctional Service lasted

According to the Senate Chief Whip who spoke through Hon. Benjamin Kalu , the member representing the good people of Bende Federal Constituency in the house of representative, his freedom was possible because " Nigerians Believed that it was necessary that Justice Must be done "

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu who was convicted for 12 years on alleged Fraud related offenses by a Federal High Court saw himself behind bars for days untill The Supreme Court voided the conviction on grounds that the trial Judge lacked jurisdiction to carry out successfully the conviction having been elevated from the Federal High Court to The Court Of Appeal as at when the trial was concluded

Though The Supreme Court had ordered for a fresh re- trial of the Abia born politician but He was still kept within the facilities of the Nigerian Correctional Service untill on Wednesday when the court ordered for his released from the facility of the Nigeria Correctional Service

When the news of his release fittered into town , Nigerians and mostly Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu' s supporters gathered at his Abuja residence to receive him and extend thier Goodwill messages to him.

Hon. Benjamin Kalu while addressing the crowd unbehalf of the Senator said Dr. OUk is grateful to all his supporters irrespective of thier regions and party affiliation for standing by him

" I hold no grudge against anyone,"he said . "He is ready to give his support to the development of the country and already getting prepared to resume his duties at National Assembly,"

On the reason why the Senator will not address Nigerians personally , he noted that "In line with WHO and NCDC protocol, Senator OUK is a man who is used to obeying the law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, he has been in incarceration and coming out. He wants to continue obeying the laws of the land in line with the social distancing order we will celebrate later but not now and at the right time , Senator OUK will address Nigerians "He concluded .
