Ultimate Commander, UAAP Pays Tribute To Raymond Dokpesi, Calls For Post-Humous Recognition

The United Abia Artistes and Patriots (UAAP), has called for a public holiday to be declared in honour of late Raymond Dokpesi, the CEO of DAAR Communications/ Africa Independent Television (AIT).

Speaking while paying a condolence visit to the Dokpesi family on Thursday, the leader of the UAAP, Ambassador Dr. Osita Offor (Ultimate Commander), described late Raymond Dokpesi as a good and generous man who left legacies that has positively affected the present generation and will also impact on the future generations.

The heavyweight champion regretted that Dokpesi departed the earth at the time he is needed most, however, "I believe God called him".

He noted that Nigerians will miss Dokpesi who died at the age of 71, adding that; "I don't think Nigeria will have a man like Raymond Dokpesi in the next 50 years".

He prayed God to console the family of the deceased and give his first son the grace to fit into the big shoe which his father left behind.

"This is the time we need a man like Raymond Dokpesi but God decided to call him now".

"This is a man that we are going to miss so much. I feel so bad that generations yet unborn have not been privileged to benefit from him even though he was able to leave a legacy that will touch lives from generation to generation.

"I wish there is a way Nigeria will remember his death day or the day he will be laid to rest. If possible, declare it a public holiday" Ultimate Commander said.

Speaking also, Nollywood actor, Emmanuel Ehumadu, popularly called Labista, described Dokpesi's death as shocking, adding that "we were not expecting someone as vibrant as he was to suddenly fall in death.

Labista revealed that Dokpesi contributed to the growth of the Nollywood industry in Nigeria by using his television station, to publicise the industry years back.

"The media and entertainment industry will miss him greatly. We lost a very great man" he said.
