Abia State governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has given fresh hope to millions of supporters of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, assuring that his freedom will come "very soon.ÔÇØ

Otti made this revelation on Friday during President Bola Tinubu's official visit to Abia State, represented by the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi. According to the governor, his personal engagement with President Tinubu has yielded positive signs that the long incarceration of Kanu may soon come to an end.

"I can assure you that I am engaging with Mr President. He is favourably disposed to it, and I am sure that in no distant future, Nnamdi Kanu will regain his freedom,ÔÇØ Otti boldly declared, sparking excitement across the South-East.

The governor emphasized his long-standing personal relationship with Tinubu, describing the president as a man who always stands by his word. "Mr President and I have been friends for decades. Whatever he wants to do, he will tell you, and if he will not, he will say so. Having made promises, I am sure he will keep them,ÔÇØ he stated.

Speaking on behalf of President Tinubu, Minister Dave Umahi urged residents of the South-East to maintain peace and unity as leaders work on finding a political solution to Kanu's prolonged detention.

"I ask the people of the South-East to unite and come together. As your brother, I have listened to the messages for Mr President and the comments of the governor of Abia State,ÔÇØ Umahi said.

He further disclosed that South-East governors, senators, ministers, and other stakeholders are actively pursuing a coordinated political approach to secure Kanu's release. "I want to assure Senator Abaribe and Governor Otti that the governors of the South-East are working very seriously. They are exploring a political solution together with our senators, House of Representatives members, and ministers,ÔÇØ he noted.

This renewed assurance from both Governor Otti and the federal government's representative has rekindled hope across the South-East that Kanu's years-long legal battle may soon find closure through political negotiation rather than prolonged courtroom drama.
