Governor Alex Otti has revealed how the Abia State Government secured the partnership that will deliver the Radisson Blu Enyimba International Hotel, while also clarifying the ownership structure of the long-awaited hospitality project recently flagged off in Aba.
The Governor made the clarification following the official flag-off of civil engineering works at the Enyimba International Hotel and Convention Centre, an event that has generated widespread reactions across Abia State, especially after the announcement that global hospitality brand Radisson Blu will manage the facility when completed.

According to the Governor, the ownership structure was carefully designed to reflect the historical contributions of business leaders and stakeholders who invested in the project decades ago through the Aba Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture.

He stated that the Abia State Government currently holds 80 percent equity in the Radisson Blu Enyimba Hotel project, while the remaining 20 percent belongs to the families of the original pathfinders who supported the investment when the project was first conceived.

Governor Otti noted that the arrangement recognizes the sacrifices made by prominent Aba business leaders who contributed funds in the early years to keep the dream of the Enyimba Hotel alive when the project suffered repeated abandonment.

The clarification comes days after the government formally flagged off the reconstruction and completion of the Enyimba International Hotel, a project originally conceived in the 1970s but stalled for decades.

During the ceremony, the Governor described the revival of the Enyimba Hotel as a historic moment for Aba, saying the project represents the rebirth of the commercial city and a symbol of renewed economic confidence in Abia State.

He explained that the decision to partner with Radisson Blu was intentional, stressing that the original vision of the project was to build a world-class hospitality facility and not just an ordinary hotel.

According to him, the government insisted on bringing in an international brand to ensure that the hotel meets global standards capable of attracting investors, conferences, tourists, and business travelers to Aba.
The Governor disclosed that the project is expected to deliver a modern 5-star hotel with over 100 rooms, a convention centre, and supporting facilities that will position Aba as a major destination for business and events in West Africa.
He added that the state government delayed the execution of the project in the past two years in order to first rebuild road infrastructure, improve sanitation, and strengthen security across Aba, noting that a 5-star hotel cannot thrive without a functional urban environment.
Governor Otti also linked the Enyimba Hotel revival to the ongoing transformation projects across the state, including the reconstruction of Port Harcourt Road, the Ovom reclamation project, and other strategic infrastructure developments aimed at repositioning Aba as Nigeria's leading industrial hub.
Observers say the Enyimba Hotel project is one of the most symbolic projects of the current administration, as it represents both the restoration of an abandoned legacy and the beginning of a new economic era for Aba and Abia State.
