Abia State has taken another bold leap in technical education and youth empowerment as Governor Alex Otti's administration welcomes an American-based global automotive institution to launch a state-wide advanced skills training programme covering all 17 local government areas.
The International Automotive Technical Academy Group, a renowned U.S.-based technical training organisation, arrived in Abia State to formalize a groundbreaking partnership with the Abia State Diaspora Commission. The initiative is designed to equip Abia youths with cutting-edge automotive repair and diagnostics skills that meet global standards.

The visiting delegation was received by the Executive Secretary/CEO of the Commission, Rev. Dr. Annie Onu, who described the collaboration as a transformational step that aligns perfectly with Governor Otti's vision for a skilled, innovative and future-ready workforce.
According to Rev. Dr. Onu, the programme will expose Abia youths to modern vehicle diagnostics, hybrid and electric vehicle maintenance, mechatronics, and advanced repair techniques now dominating international automotive markets. She emphasized that the partnership reflects the government's commitment to bridging skills gaps and connecting Abians to global opportunities.

Leader of the visiting team, Col. Chukwuemeka Golden Olunkwa, reaffirmed the academy's mission, noting that the initiative is focused on transferring "world-class automotive technological skills to Abia youths, promoting innovation, and expanding career opportunities across the state."
