Over 10 people injured, Church, other buildings destroyed in clash over market space in Oyo |READ FULL

It was pandemonium galore in Tewure, in Orire local government area of Oyo state when two rival youth groups clashed leaving over 10 people injured.

Also, during the bloody clash, many houses including a church building were destroyed by the irate youths.

Blueprint learnt that the bloody clash was between two youth groups said to be of Ilorin descent and Ogbomoso indigenes in the community.

According to sources in the town, the warring youths during the clash freely used dangerous weapons such as cutlasses, dane gun among others to attack one another.

The sources stressed that no fewer than 10 people were left with various degree of injuries while several others were said to have flee their homes for safety.

As at the time of filling this story, tension is still mounting in the community following the early morning clash.

When contacted, Oyo state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Lawrence Fadeyi, said the clash was between two traditional rulers over land meant for market space and that only four persons sustained injury

"It was a clash between two traditional rulers over a land meant for market space. Four persons sustained injury, while a vehicle was damaged,ÔÇØ he said.

SP Fadeyi added that "normalcy has since returned to the area. DPO Ikoyi ile is investigating the matter while effort is on to arrest perpetrators and prosecute them accordingly.ÔÇØ
