PDP CRISIS: Atiku Sets Condition For Ayu To Resign
Following the unending calls by some stalwarts of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the resignation of Iyorchia Ayu as the national chairman of the party, the 2023 presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar, has revealed the only ground on which Ayu can resign.

Speaking at an interactive session with southwest PDP stakeholders on Wednesday, Atiku Abubakar stated that the resignation of Ayu is achievable, however it must be backed by the party's Constitution.

According to Abubakar, the call for the re-composition of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP can be done only when the party's Constitution has been amended to accommodate such.

"we cannot do anything outside our Constitution, except it is amended, we cannot do anything unless the laws are amended. Ayu must go through our Constitution, rules, regulations, and our practice, otherwise, we cannot give the kind of leadership Nigerians want.

"What Makinde is asking for is possible only when we have amended our party's Constitution. As things stand today, no single individual has the power to tamper with the NWC of the party. Doing so will be illegal and it will be against our rules at the party. Nigerians will not trust us to govern by the tenets of rule of law if we take such arbitrary action against our own party,ÔÇØ Abubakar said.

Earlier, governor Seyi Makinde had re-echoed call for the resignation of Ayu, adding that the PDP must unify if it truly wants to unify Nigeria.
