PDP Youth Leader Bags Jail Term For Insulting President Buhari, Boss Mustapha

A youth leader in the Adamawa state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ikamu Hamidu Kato, has bagged a two year jail term for insulting president Muhammadu Buhari and Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha.

Kato from Hong Council area of the state, had in a viral video he shared on the social media on July 10, 2021, described Buhari and Boss Mustapha as "useless human beingsÔÇØ particularly describing the SGF as a "Bastard and a DogÔÇØ.

The Department of State Security (DSS), on Monday, August 2, arraigned Kato before a Chief Magistrate Court, where he pleaded guilty to the charges levelled against him.

The DSS presented two of their operatives as witnesses in the case; Zayyanu Adamu and Husseini Nakura.

Also, the chairman, Adamawa State Concern Citizen, tendered confessional statement of Kato and a USB drive as exhibit.

In his ruling, Chief magistrate Dimas Elishama, sentenced the accused to one year in prison for insulting President Buhari and another one year for insulting Boss Mustapha after being found guilty of inciting public disturbance.

However, both sentences are to run concurrently with an option of N25,000 fine.
