Player accuses Diamond Football Club Chairman of Assault

The Chairman of Diamond Football Club Martins Apugo has being accused of assaulting a player under his watch.
This came to limelight after AFNEWS representative monitored a phone conversation between the Chairman of Diamond Football Club Martins Apugo and AIT's Lai Lawal on the assault allegations leveled against him.

John Kelechi Onuoha the player who claimed to be playing for diamond football club sent a complaint and an allegations to Players union accusing the chairman of the club of assaulting him while in training on 2nd May 2020

John Kelechi Onuoha also alleged that the chairman while trying to make good the wrong melted to him apologized to him and even promised to take care of the medical bills since the assault resulted to bruises on the face of the said player

But the club chairman martins Apugo while denying the allegations said it was a mere fabrication " He is a student of Micheal Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike, who does visit our training ground to train too but he is not a player of diamond football club" he said

The chairman also denied organizing a training session for the players on Saturday 2nd May. " We have not resume training , yes and that is as result of the Lock down occasioned by the advent of the Covid-19 pandemic , it is falsehood to say we were training, we did not train " he said
But when he was asked what actually happened, Apugo said the guy had an issue at the training ground with another person, he was trying to resolve it but since the guy proved stubborn, it resulted in him slapping the player

" I slapped him , but I later gave him money to treat himself " he said . When he was asked to mention how much he gave the player he refused disclosing the actual amount he gave the player to take care of himself since he does not want the press to know about it

" The amount I gave him is between the two of us and I would not want to disclose it "but he denied vehemently that the guy was a player of diamond football club.
