Recall that the Abia State Judicial Panel of Inquiry on the recovery of looted Government Property and Funds, led by Justice Duruoha Igwe (rtd), issued a bench warrant of arrest on Agbazuere after he failed to appear before the Panel to give evidence in respect to a Toyota Hilux Land Cruiser alleged to be in his possession since he left office.

The panel had ordered the Commissioner of police to arrest Agbazuere and present him before it on January 24.

Agbazuere on Wednesday, was picked from his house by the police and is reportedly held at the Commissioner of Police's office at Bende Road, Umuahia, the state capital.

Speaking earlier on Love FM radio today, Agbazuere lamented that there was heavy security presence around his residence as they made attempt to arrest him.

According to Agbazuere, a letter of invitation was sent to him which was received by his gate man, however, he claimed that the panel should have invited him twice or thrice.

He also added that he had informed one of the members of the panel of inquiry that he would honor the invitation today as he recently returned from Abuja.

Meanwhile, a circular making rounds the internet claims that the vehicle in question was bequeathed to Agbazuere by former governor Okezie Ikpeazu on April 21, 2022.
