In a fiery response to Senator Orji Uzor Kalu's claim that the Abia North Senatorial seat belongs to him and that he would continue to hold it "until he decides otherwise,ÔÇØ prominent Abia-born political leader and senatorial aspirant, Chief (Dr.) Emeka Charles Kalu, has described the statement as "undemocratic, arrogant, and a direct insult to the will of the people.ÔÇØ

Chief Kalu, who is the Chairman of the ECK Foundation and a known advocate for good governance, stated that no man, no matter how influential, can own a public office that was created by the constitution and entrusted to the people through their votes.

"Let it be made abundantly clear that no individual owns a democratic seat in Nigeria. The Senate seat for Abia North belongs to the people - not to any man, family, or political dynasty. Power flows from the people, and only God gives power,ÔÇØ Kalu declared.

The philanthropist and political strategist emphasized that the 2027 senatorial race in Abia North would not be a contest of wealth or entitlement, but a test of competence, integrity, and vision. He maintained that the era of political intimidation and recycled arrogance disguised as experience is over.

"While Senator Kalu is entitled to his ambition, he must also respect the tenets of democracy which demand fairness and accountability. Abia North deserves fresh ideas and purposeful leadership - not political ownership,ÔÇØ he stated.

Chief Kalu further expressed confidence that the people of Abia North would speak loudly through the ballot in 2027, stressing that the seat belongs to God and the electorate, not to one man's declaration of permanence.

"We are not intimidated by any self-proclaimed political monopoly. The people will decide, not one man's word. Democracy thrives on choice, and in 2027, Abia North will choose progress over pride,ÔÇØ he concluded.
