President Buhari Makes Fresh Appointments, Renews Tenure Of 7 Others (Full List)

The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of two persons as Managing Directors of River Basin Development Authorities.

The President also granted approval for the renewal of the tenures of seven Managing Directors of River Basin Development Authorities across the tenures.

Those whose tenures were renewed will be serving their final term in office according to a statement on Thursday evening by the Director, Press and Public Relations in the Ministry of Water Resources, Mrs Kenechukwu Offie.

She noted in the statement that the appointments took effect from Jan. 5.

The managing directors whose appointments were renewed are; Prof. Abdulkarim Muhammad, Upper Niger River Basin Development Authority, Dr. Adeniyi Aremu, Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority, Ilorin, Saliu Ahmed, Managing Director, Benin-Owena River Basin Development Authority, and Muhammad Adra, Managing Director, Lower Benue River Basin Development Authority, Makurdi.

Others are; Mr Olufemi Odumosu, Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority, Mr Bassey Nkposong, Cross River Basin Development Authority, and Bature Mohammed, Managing Director, Sokoto Rima River Basin Development Authority, Sokoto.

Those appointed for the first time are; Ma'amun Da'u Aliyu, Managing Director, Hadejia Jama'are River Basin Development Authority, and Mark Darefaka, Managing Director, Niger Delta Basin Development Authority.

Mr. Aminu Abba was also appointed by the President as Executive Director, Agricultural Services, Hadejia Jama'are River Basin Development Authority, Kano.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, on Thursday, disclosed that Nigeria will receive 10 million doses of coronavirus vaccine in March.

Ehanire noted that the 10 million vaccines will be an addition to the 100,000 expected doses of Pfizer vaccine.

The Minister, however, did not specify what type of vaccine would be used for the 10 million doses.

It was also not stated whether the expected vaccines would be financed by the African Union or as part of COVAX, which links the World Health Organization with private partners to work for pooled procurement and equitable distribution.
