Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, has directed security agencies in the state to urgently review the security situation around Orlu, Kaduna and Arochukwu Streets by Calabar Street, Umuahia, with a view to clearing the area of hoodlums accused of robbing and molesting innocent citizens on a regular basis.

The Governor has also directed the State Commissioner for Public Utilities to immediately commence the deployment of street lights around the area including Umuwaya Road to Shopprite and the aforementioned flashpoints as well as ensure that previously deployed street lights within the state capital function optimally.
Governor Ikpeazu who expressed the determination of his administration to tackle crimes through job creation and proactive security engagement also directs that brothels located around the aforementioned areas be closed down immediately and proprietors of such facilities, including joints where hard drugs are sold, be prosecuted.
