Redeployment Of Electoral Officers, Abians Question INEC Admin Sec. Integrity | SEE DOC

The integrity of the Administrative Secretary of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abia State Clement Ohia Esq, is currently been questioned because of an allege lack of transparence in his activities as the acting Resident Electoral Commission (REC) for Abia State.

Recall, that the substantive REC was arrested and suspended over issues relating to the logistics surrounding the presidential and national assembly election that held on 25th February 2023. CLICK TO READ FULL.

The recent activity that sparked the suspicion of Abians, political watchers, the media and political parties in the state is the re-posting of Electoral Officers from one LGA to another.

Usually, the Electoral Officers (EOs) are no longer swapped when the election has started. The reason being that it will destabilize the process and may affect the election.

Sources who want to remain anonymous, are alleging that Clement Ohia Esq is taking the action in collusion with a political party who feel that the swapped EOs can do their bidding in the new locations.

Abia State is getting really charged over accusations of planned rigging and counter accusations and political stakeholders are of the opinion that INEC must ensure free and fair election to avoid violence.
