Abia State's internal crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has deepened as Dr. Eme Okoro, a chieftain of the party, expressed shock over the recent suspension and expulsion of Senator Adolphus Wabara by the State Chairman, Elder Abraham Ama.

Speaking during a live interview on the television program RED SEAT, Okoro revealed that about a month ago, during an Abia North PDP meeting at the residence of Honorable Uko Nkole in Abam, Arochukwu Local Government Area, Ama knelt down in the presence of party stakeholders, pleading for peace to return to the party.

He questioned why the same Ama who sought reconciliation would turn around to take drastic actions such as suspending and expelling Senator Wabara without proper consultations.

"I am surprised that Ama would make such a move after literally begging for peace in the party," Okoro said. "We cannot continue playing games with the PDP. Even if he wanted to take such an action, he should have consulted with party members and elders like us."

Dr. Okoro stressed that Senator Adolphus Wabara, as the Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT), deserves respect both at the state and national levels. He criticized the expulsion, calling it a sign of disrespect to a party leader who holds a key position in the PDP hierarchy.

"You did not make Wabara BoT Chairman at the national level, why then disrespect him at home. If the PDP truly wants peace, everyone must set aside their pride and respect one another," Okoro advised.

The crisis in Abia PDP has continued to escalate, with factions within the party calling for reconciliation while others push for disciplinary actions. With these revelations, the battle for control within the party appears far from over.
