Rivers State Govt. Shuts Down AIT, Raypower FM | READ FULL DETAILS
Rivers State government has shut down the operations of Daar Communications PLC, owners of Africa independent television (AIT) and Raypower 106.5fm in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

According to a publication on Daar Communication's website, their "operations was shut down by telecommunications engineers contracted by the state government after they disconnected the wave guard from the antenna on the mast to the transmitter in an invasion like operation with security operatives."

The media house stated that the officials on site claimed that they were acting based on order from above.

"The management of Daar Communications in Port Harcourt were taken by surprise following the sudden turn of event because efforts were in top gear by management to resolve the matter amicably but the no notice incident is a heavy source of concern.

Some of the officials at the transmitter had earlier said via telephone that they were working on directive from above to start demolition on Sunday despite the heavy rains as against a later date.

"The demolition of the building housing the transmitter hub was been shifted to Monday 4th" DAAR said.
