Cristiano Ronaldo has offered an immediate gesture of apology to Al Nassr fans after scoring a stoppage-time penalty in their 2-0 victory over Al Khaleej on Monday night, following an earlier miss from the spot that had left the home crowd visibly frustrated.

The 40-year-old Portuguese icon, who has been under pressure amid a difficult season for his Saudi club, failed to convert his first-half penalty, a moment that could have been important with the game tied at 0-0.

However, Ronaldo redeemed himself with a successful effort in the sixth minute of added time, sealing the win after Jhon Duran broke the deadlock in the 75th minute.

Ronaldo, clearly relieved, took to social media after the final whistle, writing, "One of those nights where the ball just didn't want to go in... until it did."

The goal marked the end of Al Nassr's home fixtures for the 2024/25 Saudi Pro League campaign, a disappointing season in which the Riyadh-based club fell 13 points behind champions Al Ittihad and failed to qualify for the AFC Champions League.
