The Emir's comments were delivered through his representative, Dr. Comrade Auwalu Mudi Yakasai (Danmalikin Kano) - a renowned labour and human rights activist - during the 51st National Executive Council (NEC) meeting/training workshop of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) at the Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil, Kano State.
"Everything is going down - from the economy to education!"
"The reality today is harsh. The economy is down. Education is declining. Healthcare is on life support. Social life is broken. Labour, which used to be the voice of the people, is now a shadow of itself," Yakasai said on behalf of the Emir.

"You start by cooperating with the authorities. If that fails, you move to challenge. If the system remains deaf, you confront it - in all forms necessary. And strike action is just one of them," he advised.
The Emir Sanusi described the current fuel hikes, economic collapse, and insecurity as signs of a nation on the brink, stating that Nigerians are being punished by policies that do not reflect the reality of their suffering.
