The vacuum created at the National Assembly, owing to the resignation of Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe as the Senate minority leader has been occupied.

Abaribe at the resumption of plenary, had informed the House of his resignation, owing to his defection from the People's Democratic Party, PDP to the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA.
The Senate during plenary on Tuesday, announced Abaribe's replacement as Senator Phillip Aduda, the member representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Senator Chukwuka Utazi was also named as the Senate Minority Whip to take over Aduda's former position.

The Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, announced the new appointments while reading two separate letters signed by the National Secretary of the PDP, Samuel Anyanwu.
