BREAKING: Senate Rejects Nomination Of Lauretta Onochie, Gives Reasons

The Senate has rejected the nomination of Lauretta Onochie as a National Commissioner for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

This followed the consideration of the report of Senate Committee on INEC, presented by the Chairman of the Committee, Senator Kabiru Gaya on Tuesday.

According to Gaya, the Committee rejected the nomination of Onochie because there is already a National Commissioner for INEC, Mrs May Agbamuche, representing Delta State in the Commission.

The Senate also stepped down the nomination of Professor Sani Mohammad Adam (North Central) to allow for further legislative action.

Recall that Onochie who is an aide to President Muhammadu Buhari on new media, has faced a lot of controversies following her nomination by the President for the INEC job.
