South east residents urged not to panic as army begins promotion exams

Resident of the south east has been urged by the Nigerian army not to panic as they see movement of troops conducting practical promotional examination for its lieutenants.

This appeal was made in a statement made available to newsmen on Friday in Enugu by the army public relations of 82 divisions Deputy Director Aliyu Yusuf

The public relations officer said that the practical promotion exam will be taking place starting from 10 to 15 of February, and that the general public especially those living in Enugu state and its adjoin should not panic and stay calm when they will see military equipment and troops moving around.

He further said that ''the headquarters 82 division of the Nigerian army is set to host the Nigerian army lieutenant to captain practical promotion examination{LCPPE} 2020 in its area of responsibity.
''and it is also in line with the Nigerian army forecast of event 2020 which scheduled the promotion examination from February 10 to 15 February.

It is also expected that about 121 candidates {Lieutenants} will be participating, and will also be tested in various categories which may include physical/medical fitness, map reading, tactics, communication, skill-at-army, low intensity conflicts, French languages and staff duties at different staging areas.

Representatives from the department of army training operations, team of observers from army headquarters, members of examination panel and units of the Nigerian army as well as the supporting staff from 82 divisions are the people expected to be present during the conduct of the examination.
The examination is said to be aiming at evaluating the intellectual ability of the candidates and also to improve on their knowledge, capability in the discharge of their professional duties and ultimately serve as an assessment for promotion to the rank of captain.

As it is a customary obligation, the commander training and doctrine command {TRADOC} who is the exam president, will address the candidates and the examination panel at the headquarters auditorium on Sunday , February 9, by 1pm before the commencement of the exercise''.

According to the public relations officer yusuf, additionally, candidates and officials will be conveyed in military escort to the selected staging areas within Enugu and adjoining environment during the exercise
