ABIA: Supreme Court Rejects Ahiwe's Application Against Otti, Slams Fine | READ DETAILS
An appeal filed at the Supreme court by the 2023 governorship candidate of PDP in Abia State, Chief Okey Ahiwe, seeking to be joined as a party in the controversial Federal High Court, Kano judgement, has been trashed out.

Ruling on the suit filed on October 30, 2023 by Ahiwe, the supreme court described the application as a bubble and agreed with governor Alex Otti's lawyers that Ahiwe had slept over his right on the matter which had already been dismissed by an appellate court in Kano state.

The apex court also awarded cost of N500,000 against Ahiwe and the PDP.

Recall that the appeal court dismissed the ruling of the Federal High court in Kano on the suit seeking the disqualification of all Labour Party candidates in the 2023 general election on the grounds that the party failed to submit its members' register to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The Appeal Court while trashing the judgment of the Federal High Court described it as reckless, fraudulent and a legal misadventure.

Even against the background of the appeal court judgement, Ahiwe, and the PDP moved to the supreme court, seeking to be joined as parties to challenge the appeal court's judgement.
