T0P ST0RY (ABIA 2023): Uche Ogah Declared Winner Of APC Guber Direct Primaries With Over 100,000 Votes | WATCH VIDEO
The immediate past Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah has emerged winner of Abia state All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial direct primary election.

Ogah scored 141,952 votes, other aspirants pulled the following results; Paul Ikonne - 27, 054, Alex Otti 2414, Obinna Oriaku 5553, Emeka Atuma 7429, Ikechi Emenike 9446 and Daniel Eke - 1953.

While addressing party members and the press before the result declaration, Honorable Chief Chris Ajah revealed that the National Working Committee (NWC) of APC ordered for Direct Primary election in Abia State and as law abiding members of the party, they have carried out the instruction of the NWC.

He appreciated the NWC for providing a level playing ground for the gubernatorial primaries in Abia State and equally thanked all members of the party that have worked hard to make the direct primary election possible.

In his acceptance speech after his declaration as winner of the direct primary election by Barrister Perfect Okorie the returning officer, Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari and the NWC for making sure that direct primary was approved for Abia State APC because it provided a level playing ground for all aspirants.

He thanked all members, party leaders and party officials who have stood firm and have made the direct primary process go hitch free.

Ogah called on all other aspirants to close rank, work with him so that APC can take over Abia State come 2023 through the ballot box.

He assured every member that they are numerous opportunities for them to display capacity in government if they all work together to make APC win 202 elections.

When the attention of Ogah was drawn to another gubernatorial primary that held in Abia State and the declaration of High Chief Ikechi Emenike as winner by the press, he insisted that the NWC ordered for Direct Primaries in Abia State and that they have observed the instruction.

Recall that Abia APC have been in a running battle for a long time now with different groups and faction claiming leadership of the party. Even after the inauguration of Dr. Kingsley Ononogbu as the State Chairman of Abia State APC by the NWC, the internal wrangling continued.

This tussle led to the withdrawal of Dr. Alex Otti OFR and other aspirants from the 2023 primaries.
