TEN MONTHS UNPAID SALARIES: POLICE SHUT DOWN ABSCOHTECH PROTESTERS IN ABA

The Abia State College of Health Technology Aba was yesterday thrown into immense confusion as police fired teargas in a bid to stop protesters from carrying out protests.

At exactly 1:10 pm in the afternoon, the usually peaceful environment of the school was thrown into a chaotic state as protest broke out among workers over unpaid salaries.

The workers expressed their dissatisfaction over months of unpaid salaries and arrears staged a protest. The protesters locked down the only entrance into the institution and stopped both the inflow and outflow of people.

The protest took a different turn after 2 hours' when the police arrived at the scene and started shooting sporadically into the air and broke the gate locks, then they fired teargas at everybody (both students, workers, and even people who were going about their business).

Some of the protesters were reportedly taken away, however as at the time of writing this nobody was confirmed dead or hit by stray bullet, however, it is alleged that some people who are allergic to the effects of the teargas fainted and are currently being revived.

Efforts by our correspondent to reach the rector of the institution proved abortive
