"The Pride of Ndi Abia, Father of Igbo's in Lagos is gone" - Chris Igwe describes late Ndubuisi Kanu

Dr. Sir Chris O. Igwe, CEO, Mainland Oil & Gas Ltd, a subsidiary of Chrisnak Group of Companies and a son of Umunneochi in Abia State has described late Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Godwin kanu as the pride of ndi Abia and the father of Igbo's in Lagos. Igwe stated this in a press release signed by him and made available to AFNEWS.

In the message which sounded very sorrowful, Chris Igwe revealed that the big vacuum created by the death of Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Godwin Kanu will be difficult to fill and that his heart is broken.

"Honestly today is a dark Wednesday'
"I am seriously heart broken, father of ndi Igbo in Lagos is gone, this vacuum will be difficult to fill", he said.
The business mogul and philanthropist consoled with the immediate family of late Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu (Rtd), Abia State, Igbos in general and Nigeria as a whole for losing a great man.
Ndubuisi Kanu was born in Isuikwuato, Abia State on 3 November 1943 and was of Igbo origin. Joining the navy, he went to India for cadet training. His naval career included positions in Personnel, Logistics and Training. He obtained honorary Doctorate Degrees from the Imo State University and the Federal University of Technology, Owerri.
In July 1975, as a lieutenant commander he was appointed a member of Murtala Muhammed's ruling Cabinet, the Supreme Military Council. Appointed governor of Imo State in March 1976. He later became Rear Admiral and Naval chief.

After he retired he joined the pro-democracy movement and played a leading role in the agitation for the actualization of the annulled 12 June 1993 presidential election.

Kanu died in the early hours of 13 January 2021, having been admitted to hospital for an undisclosed illness.
