President Tinubu has hailed D'Tigress after historic 5th Afrobasket title.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has confirmed that he is expecting Nigeria's women's basketball team, D'Tigress, with the trophy following their record-breaking fifth consecutive Afrobasket title win on Sunday night in Abidjan, C├┤te d'Ivoire.
Reacting to the team's 78-64 triumph over Mali in the final, President Tinubu lauded the players for making the nation proud and reaffirming Nigeria's dominance in African women's basketball.
What Tinubu said
In a statement shared on his official X (Twitter) page, the President said he is proud of D'Tigress and will host them.
"You did it, girls! @DtigressNG. Superb performance to become 5x consecutive Champions of Africa and seventh overall. Well done, Coach Rena and the team. You have made Nigeria proud. I am expecting you all, along with the trophy. #MissionV - Done & Dusted," he posted.
