In a fiery charge that signals a new phase in Nigeria's war against insecurity, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the Nigerian Armed Forces to rise, confront, and completely crush terrorists, insurgents, and separatists threatening the peace and stability of the nation.

The President, speaking at the Grand Finale of the 162nd Nigerian Army Day Celebration held at the Murtala Muhammed Square, Kaduna, vowed that his administration will not relent in equipping the military with cutting-edge tools, intelligence resources, and manpower to ensure total victory on all battlefronts.

Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Tinubu declared with striking clarity that his government is not only ready to confront insecurity but is giving the military full political and moral authority to act without restraint - within the bounds of law.

"You have my full authorization and the trust of the Nigerian people to confront and defeat those who seek to undermine our nation," Tinubu said. "You have my confidence, my support, and my prayers. And I know that you have the resolve to prevail."

Tinubu didn't shy away from identifying the multiple faces of Nigeria's security threats - terrorism, banditry, insurgency, and separatist agitations - describing them as existential threats, not just mere law enforcement challenges.

"These evils do not discriminate by tribe or faith," he warned. "They destroy churches and mosques alike. They abduct children without asking where they worship. Our response must be united, firm, and uncompromising."

In an emotionally charged tribute to fallen heroes, President Tinubu praised the selflessness of Nigerian soldiers who have laid down their lives for the unity of the country, saying some now lie beneath the soil of a "grateful nation," while others carry the visible wounds of war.

"You cannot build a great army without first building strong soldiers. Their welfare, morale, equipment, and sense of purpose are not afterthoughts - they are the bedrock of national security."

On the theme of the celebration, "Developing the Soldier First Concept," Tinubu lauded the Nigerian Army's focus on human capital development and transformation. He assured the military that his administration will stand firmly behind its reform drive.

Turning to all Nigerians, President Tinubu emphasized that security is not the military's responsibility alone but the collective duty of every citizen, institution, and leader.

"We have no other country but Nigeria, and we must not mortgage her future to division, indifference, or delay."

The President also recognized the professionalism and leadership of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, commending his efforts to reposition the Nigerian Army as a formidable force both at home and abroad.

In his address, Lieutenant General Lagbaja recounted the transformation of the Nigerian Army over the last 162 years, highlighting advancements in modern warfare capabilities, strategic operations, and sophisticated equipment.

"We are not only resilient, but also equipped with state-of-the-art platforms to deter and crush any threat to the nation," he declared.

Lagbaja urged field commanders to be bold, audacious, and ingenious, stressing that every operation must be driven by one singular focus - Nigeria's success.
