TRUCK DESTROY PROPERTIES IN OHOKOBE, AS RESIDENTS CRY OUT FOR THE GOVERNMENT'S INTERVENTION

The people of Ohokobe in Ibeku Umuahia woke up in the early hours this morning (at about 4:30 am) to a fatal accident along Ikot Ekpene Road, Umuhia, in which a long truck conveying drinks to Akwa Ibom somersaulted on encountering another truck, with the driver losing control due to the state of the road.
AFN correspondent who interacted with Barrister Ukandu, an indigene of the community. Barr Ukandu who narrated the ordeal of the people, said that many lives have been taken because of the bad state of the road.
He pleaded with the state government to come to their aid and intervene, by installing road signs and street lights to enable the motorists make good use of the road.
As at news time, officers of the Umuahia command of the Federal Road Safety Commission had arrived to handle the issue and make sure that order was, restored to enable the free flow of traffic.
We gathered that properties worth millions of naira were damaged at the site of the incident, with buildings destroyed by the trucking
