ORGAN HARVESTING: UK Court Sentences Ike Ekweremadu, Wife, Doctor | READ DETAILS
A former deputy senate president of Nigeria, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, his wife Beatrice and Dr Obinna Obeta have been sentenced by a United Kingdom court for organ harvesting.

Ike Ekweremadu was on Friday sentenced to nine years and eight months in prison, his wife Beatrice, was sentenced to four years and six months while the medical doctor who acted as a 'middleman' in the plot, Dr Obinna Obeta, was sentenced to 10 years and his medical licence was also suspended.

Recall that the convicts were in March, 2023, found guilty of conspiring harvest the kidney of a 21 year old without his consent.

Their conviction was the first verdict of its kind under the Modern Slavery Act.
