UNILORIN Murder: CCTV Captures Suspected Killer Of 300L Student

A staff of the Guarantee Trust Bank (GTB), Babatunji Lawal, has revealed that the bank CCTV captured the suspected killer of a 300L UNILORIN student, Olajide Blessing, withdrawing money from the deceased's account.

Blessing, a student of Agricultural Sciences in the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) was on June 2, 2021, found dead in her house at Tanke area of Ilorin. The deceased who was allegedly raped, laid dead with her mouth gagged with clothes, hands tied to the back with bruises on her private part and a piece of paper on her chest with a message:'Unilorin doesn't forgive'.

Eight prime suspects were arrested by the Department of State Service (DSS), in connection with the murder and rape and first appeared before Justice I.A. Jusuf on Wednesday June 30.

They are; Abdulazeez Ismail, Ajala Moses Oluwatimileyin (aka Jacklord), Oyeyemi Timileyin Omogbolahan, Abdulkarim Shuaib (aka Easy), Kareem Oshioyemi Rasheed (Rashworld), Abdullateef Abdulrahman, Daud Bashir Adebayo (aka Bashman) and Akande Taiye Oladoja.

The first three defendants are standing trial for alleged rape and murder of the 24-year-old student, while the other five are standing trial of alleged robbery and receipt of stolen items.

A pathologist at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Dr. Kayode Adeniyi informed the court that the autopsy suggested she was raped and strangled to death.

Testifying before Justice Ibrahim Yusuf of Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin, on Tuesday, August 17, Lawal told the court that bank CCTV footage captured the image of the sixth defendant, Abdullateef Abdulrahman.

The witness who was led in evidence by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Salman Jawondo, revealed that the deceased's money summing up to N50,000 with bank charges, was siphoned through Kuda Microfinance bank with the use of Opay application.

Lawal, who was the 9th witness in the case was cross-examined by the legal representatives of the 1st, 6th and 8th defendants.

The trial judge, Justice Yusuf adjourned the case till Wednesday, August 18, for continuation of trial.
