The United States Government has condemned the mass abduction of students and teachers from St. Mary's Catholic School in Papiri, Niger State, describing the attack as unacceptable and calling for urgent action from Nigerian authorities.

The statement, released by the U.S. Department of State: Bureau of African Affairs, expressed deep concern over the alarming rise in school kidnappings and targeted attacks on Christian communities in parts of Nigeria.

According to the U.S., more than 300 students and teachers were forcefully taken from St. Mary's Catholic School, just days after 25 schoolgirls were abducted from Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in Kebbi State-a development that has drawn widespread global outrage.

The U.S. Government insisted that those responsible for these coordinated kidnappings must be swiftly captured and held accountable, stressing that the Nigerian government must take decisive action to protect schools and religious communities that continue to experience repeated attacks.

Washington emphasized that Nigerians must be able to live, learn, and practice their faith freely without fear of terror, warning that continued insecurity threatens national stability and undermines basic human rights.
