Uzuakoli Kingdom in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State was thrown into jubilation on Friday, January 9, as Hon. Iheanyi Frank Chinasa officially handed over over 300 solar-powered streetlights to the community, marking one of the most impactful grassroots interventions recorded in the area in recent times.

The colourful ceremony, which took place at the Civic Centre, Uzuakoli, saw the solar streetlight project-attracted through the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC)-formally presented to the Uzuakoli Traditional Rulers Council, symbolising both community ownership and institutional support for the initiative.

The solar streetlights, designed to be mounted at strategic locations across Uzuakoli, are expected to dramatically improve night-time visibility, enhance security, and stimulate small businesses that depend on evening economic activities. For a community that has long struggled with poor illumination and safety challenges, the project is being described as a game-changer.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Chinasa described the intervention as part of his ongoing commitment to grassroots development, stressing that the project represents only "one of the little efforts" he is making to improve the living conditions of his people.

He assured the community that more life-changing projects were already in the pipeline, adding that his mission remains to consistently attract development initiatives that directly touch the lives of ordinary citizens.

Hon. Chinasa also paid glowing tribute to Prince Oscar Orji Apuogwu, whose role in ensuring that both the NDDC engineers and the solar equipment arrived in Uzuakoli was described as pivotal to the project's success.

In their responses, traditional rulers from across Uzuakoli and Bende Local Government Area praised Hon. Chinasa for what they described as "purposeful, people-centred leadership."

Eze Uchenna Okorie (Ekwo II of Akaekwo Uzuakoli and Chairman of the Bende LGA Traditional Rulers Council) and Eze Joseph Okorie Ugwu I of Ngwu Autonomous Community both hailed the solar lighting project as timely and transformative.

They passed a formal vote of confidence on Hon. Chinasa, pledging the continued prayers, loyalty, and support of Ndi Eze and the entire Uzuakoli Kingdom for his leadership and development agenda.

According to them, the project has not only improved safety but has also restored hope in leadership that listens and delivers.

Dignitaries at the event included HRHs Eze Uchenna Okorie, Eze Anthony Moses, Eze Cmdr. Anthony Okoronkwo, Eze Joseph Okorie, Eze Dr. Okezie Chijioke, engineers from the NDDC, and Prince Oscar Orji Apuogwu, among others.

With this bold intervention, Hon. Iheanyi Frank Chinasa has once again reinforced his growing reputation as a results-driven leader committed to lighting up communities, strengthening security, and accelerating development in Bende and beyond.
