Varsity Deputy Bursar Lands In EFCC's Net For Allegedly Stealing Welfare Fund | DETAILS

The deputy bursar of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Ilyasu Abdulrauf Bello has been arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), over alleged fraud.

Bello who is also the Acting Chairman of the university's chapter of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), allegedly took advantage of his office to illegally move part of the funds in the Association's welfare account.

The Kaduna Zonal Command of the anti graft agency, arraigned the suspect on Tuesday November 23, 2021 arraigned the suspect before Justice Darius Khobo of the State High Court, Kaduna on a one count charge bordering on receipt of gratification worth over six million naira.

According to the EFCC, investigation revealed that there were several unauthorized withdrawals which were done without the knowledge of other members of the association.
