Veteran Journalist, Columnist Bayode Ogunmupe Dies At 74 | READ DETAILS

Death has been announced of Mr. Bayode Olagunju Robiu Ogunmupe, aged 74. He died on Sunday evening after a brief illness. He was, until his demise, a columnist and member of The Guardian Editorial Board, as well as Baale of Opetosa, via Ara in Egbedore Local Council of Osun State; Sanmori Adini of Idi-Araba and Akede Adini of Ilasamaja, Lagos State, among other chieftaincy titles.

Ogunmupe was a veteran journalist, economist, literary critic, blogger and author. He was educated at the International School, Ibadan, Oyo State, the University of Ibadan, University of Geneva, Switzerland and the London School of Economics, United Kingdom.
He was Production Editor, Nigerian Tribune and Senior Sub-Editor at Daily Times Newspapers in Lagos. Ogunmupe, who was Associate Editor of Newswatch Magazine, was a recipient of the Nigerian Media Merit Awards in 1993 and the Ladi Lawal Journalist of the year 2010.

He wrote the seminal book, Nigerian Politics in the Age of Yar'Adua.
